Webinar: How Ground Testing Keeps Us Safe with Megger

Ground systems are integral because of the protection and safety it offers to the public and the electrical equipment we use every day. These systems need to be monitored and maintained to ensure their reliability during normal conditions, unexpected faults, and to prevent cascading failures.

We teamed up with Megger for this short webinar on Ground Testing, where we cover:
• How Ground Testing keeps us safe
• Ground Testing theory
• Step Potential and Touch Potential
• Soil Resistivity – testing for new installations
• Electrode & Earth Resistance – testing for maintenance
• Attached Rod Technique – testing without disconnecting
• Stakeless Electrode Test – benefits of clamps
• Testing in electrically noisy environments

Learn about the features and functions of the Megger DET14C and DET24C

The Megger Clamp-On Ground Testers play an essential part in ground testing. Leading by example, Megger provides the highest CAT ratings in the industry for ground testers at IV 600V making the DET series safe to use on any ground system. The thinner clamps and shorter body make these units compact that allows them to be able to take measurements in hard-to-reach places.

Tired of not having your measurements held on the display? Unique to the DET series, the Intelligent Data Hold can be initiated before you take a measurement and still be held when you're done! This is very convenient as you will not have to worry about losing your measurement anymore.

Useful tips of the Megger DET14C and DET24C

If you have a Megger DET Series unit, watching this video will provide you with useful tips that you can use in the field! You'll learn what you can and cannot do with these instruments, giving you a good idea of how intuitive your product is. The DET14C & DET24C can induce a test current into the earth systems and measure ground resistance in multi-ground installations without needing to disconnect the ground.

As these units are capable of many useful features, they cannot measure the earth's resistivity; there's a difference between resistance and resistivity! To complete a resistivity measurement, you'll need a 4 terminal earth tester like the Megger DET4 series - see 00:40.
