The Ultimate Scout's Kit is a complete reconnaissance solution. Include thermal, laser range-finding, i2 night vision technologies with the accessories to use them in varying roles.

The Ultimate Scout's Kit is a complete reconnaissance solution including range-finding, thermal, and image intensified night vision technologies.

Police units, military teams, civilian contractors, long range hunters, and ambitious target shooters are all solving different problems. But they all use top of the line tools to get the job done. This kit is designed for those that need the best, and need it all.

We picked our three primary devices wanting to present military quality in a civilian-legal package:

The FLIR LS64 is our most compact thermal unit with a massive 640x512 detector that means you can detect a man sized heat signature 1km away.

The Vectronix Terrapin gives ultra-precise measurement in feet, meters, or yards out to 2400 yards. Where other rangefinders struggle to return results, the Terrapin is quick, accurate, and reliable even at extreme distances.

The PVS-14 is the standard night vision monocular of militaries around the world, but we've put one of the best I2 tubes available into this. Straight from ITT, this Auto-Gated, filmless tube with 64 lp/mm

We've bundled in a variety of high quality mounting hardware that allows you to mount the appropriate primary device to a tripod, a helmet, or the picatinny rail of a rifle depending on your application.

A number of stand-alone devices are included to broaden the abilities of the kit: The Drakos IR Laser and Illuminator combination assists targeting and pointing through night vision devices like the PVS-14. The Kestrel 4500 is a top of the line wind meter which can provide a complete ballistic solution alongside the rangefinder. We also made sure to include a micro-red dot sight so that even with all the magnification: you can still respond to any close range events requiring a fast reaction.

Reasoning Behind the Ultimate Kits

Often when we get a someone on the phone, they're not a current night vision user. But they always have an idea of what they're looking for:

"I want a goggle I can wear and move with."
"I want thermal units that can detect heat signatures."
"'I would like to try this on a rifle."

But as we talk, and start talking about the actual end uses, those ideas often change.

Varmint hunters, police units, search and rescue teams, and disaster-prepared individuals find they have several different ideas about what they want to do with their electro-optics.

We start building out, and rather than ending up with one device that does one thing, our users often take home a complete night vision system.

We built the Ultimate Scout's kit as an out of the box reconnaissance solution. We've put together a selection of devices and mounting brackets to address as many needs as possible. Whether your end goal is a ballistic solution for a wild boar in the dark, or to find a person in need before that storm sets in, the Ultimate Scout's Kit gives you the best tools to get the job done.

What's included with the FLIR Ultimate US

  • Ultimate Scout's Kit
  • Common Opto-Electronic Setups

Any of the three primary devices will function fine as handhelds, but we've put together the most common mounting combinations here:

There are no limits to the configurations of your individual kit. Although we don't normally encourage mounting your rangefinder in front of your eye.

rangefinder + tripod: Did you range the target, the tree in front, or the rock behind? Even with lightning fast results and guaranteed accuracy out to 2400 yards, it can still help to have your Terrapin rangefinder stabilized.

nvg + rifle: Normally mounting a night vision device on a rifle would require you to co-witness with a red-dot sight or daytime optic. However our AIM system converts your regular i2 monocular to a dedicated weapon sight with the flip of a switch.

nvg+ helmet: When you need to be using your NV for extended periods of time: keep your hands free with a helmet mount. A true goggle solution means you can extend your awareness even in complete darkness.

flir + helmet: Looking at thermal video makes walking around a challenge, but in a tree-stand or blind, you'll be able to detect heat signatures fast. When the US Army tests night operations, they describe this as defensive (stationary) versus offensive (mobile) applications. A FLIR unit in front of your eye works wonders when you're planted in one spot.

flir + tripod: When using different devices together, it can be beneficial to "set and forget" at least one of the devices. A tripod mounted FLIR means that you can switch to it as you need, without having to search through backpacks, spot and focus on your target every time. Its not uncommon for recon and sniper teams to start stacking several optics together on a single tripod!
