The Platinum Tools NetXpert XG2 (TXG200) is a 10 G certifier for Copper Cabling Systems that can quickly and easily test and document whether a cable link is suitable for operation of up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet by IEEE 802.3. The NetXpert XG2 10 G cable speed certifier uses advanced Bit Error Rate Testing (BERT), pushing real data packets over the cable and measuring the results. Unlike many other forms of testing, bit error rate measures the full end-to-end performance of a system including the transmitter, receiver, and the medium between the two.
In this way, BER tests the performance of a system in operation, proving the capabilities of new networks and identifying older cable runs that can operate at higher speeds. The XG2 certifier also includes a full suite of active network tests and tools to speed network installs, including PoE testing and network testing over Wi-Fi. The Platinum Tools NetXpert XG2 cable speed and network troubleshooter is designed to be the one device that can perform all the tests you need during an install, helping to simplify and speed up the process. The Platinum Tools NetXpert XG2 model TXG200 is for certification of copper cables but can still perform some basic fiber network tests.
To qualify the Ethernet transmission performance of copper cabling links, the XG2 calculates the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) to determine the signal quality and performs bit error rate tests (BERT). The NetXpert also performs evaluations of the delay skew, providing information about differences in the signal propagation delay of the individual wire pairs. All three are crucial tests for determining reliable data transmission and are performed at the touch of a button.
