Mitutoyo 516-564-56 Offers

The Mitutoyo Inch Rectangular Long Block gauge Block sets offer exceptional precision and stability for calibration and manufacturing traceability of longer workpieces. gauge block sets are available in different grades, sizes, and steps, offering exceptional precision and stability for calibration and manufacturing traceability. The Mitutoyo innovative lapping technique makes their gauge blocks some of the most accurate and trusted instruments in the world, featuring exceptional flatness and ideal surface roughness. Mitutoyo steel gauge blocks are constructed of high-carbon, high-chrome steel while the CERA gauge blocks are constructed of ceramic materials with superior surface qualities and corrosion resistance.

Rectangular gauge block sets are supplied with a Mitutoyo certificate of inspection that the block meets American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B89.1.9-2002 standard for flatness, length, parallelism, and surface finish

Features

  • Available in steel and CERA block sets
  • High-carbon, high-chrome steel provides high hardness and wear resistance
  • Rectangular base for accurate wringing
  • Nominal length indicated with laser-etched, black characters
  • Identification number etched in block for traceability
  • Specific, repeated heat treatment of steel blocks reduce deterioration change over time
  • CERA blocks are free from dimensional change over time; have 10 times the abrasion resistance of steel gauge blocks
  • Advanced lapping techniques achieve the best flatness, surface roughness needed for gauge blocks
  • Designed to check and calibrate longer measurement instruments
  • Black characters on gauge blocks are inscribed by laser and clearly visible
  • Provided with Inspection Certificate
  • Supplied in a solid wooden case

Accuracy: Mitutoyo has established a traceability system for measurement products, up to the Metrology Management Center of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), and have been certified by the Japanese government as an accredited laboratory.

Wringing: The Mitutoyo advanced lapping technique, developed for more than a half-century by Mitutoyo, achieves the best flatness and surface roughness needed for gauge blocks.

Ceramic blocks are adopted for frequently-used blocks. Ceramic gauge blocks will last longer than steel gauge blocks as well as not corrode.

CERA Blocks:

CERA blocks, made of ceramic materials with superior surface quality, were developed by Mitutoyo’s ultra-precision machining techniques and solve problems commonly associated with steel gauge blocks:

  • Corrosion-resistant: Anti-corrosion treatment is not required when handled normally (i.e. with fingers), resulting in simple maintenance and storage
  • No burrs caused by dents: Since the CERA Block is very hard it will not scratch and is highly resistant to burrs. If a burr is formed, it can easily be removed with a ceramic deburring stone (Ceraston)
  • Abrasion resistant: CERA Blocks have 10 times the abrasion resistance of steel gauge blocks
  • Dimensional stability: CERA Blocks are free from dimensional change over time
  • Marking: Black characters, indicating the nominal length, inscribed by laser, clearly visible against the white surface of block
  • High wringing force: An even, dense tissue can maintain a strong wringing force
  • Closest expansion coefficient to steel: The thermal expansion coefficient of a CERA Block is similar to that of a steel gauge block
  • Resistance against drops: CERA block material is one of the toughest ceramics materials, and is extremely difficult to crack under normal use

Applications

  • Precision length calibration of measuring instruments
  • Dimensional accuracy verification in quality control laboratories
  • Reference standard measurements for inspection and metrology systems
