The AFL FR-SMF-150-ULC-USC Fiber Ring OTDR Launch Cable features 150 meters of standard SMF (G.652) single mode fiber optic cable with LC and SC connectors in a compact ring. It is essential for testing optical fiber links in premises networks. OTDR testing requires launch and receive test cables to measure the end-to-end loss of fiber optic links. The coiled OTDR launch cable comes conveniently organized in a new rugged and lightweight case with improved functionality. It fits easily in any OTDR carry case or test kit.

Measuring an insertion loss of the near-end and/or far-end connection of a fibre optic link with an OTDR requires a launch and/or receive test cable. A launch cable, which connects the OTDR to the link under test, reveals the insertion loss and reflectance of the near-end connection. A receive cable, which connects to the far end of the link, reveals the insertion loss and reflectance of the far-end connection. AFL offers coiled lengths of 50 µm multimode, 62.5 µm multimode, or single-mode fibre packaged in compact rings.
